Can I clear the cache when it renders the wrong thing?

Post by spurrymoses »

I'm having problems with MSP8 rendering the 'wrong' thing. Now, I have to say to I am very definitely, absolutely, no doubt about it, sure it was the wrong thing ;-)

Just now, it was actually fading out and then back in again, very quickly where there were absolutely no transitions at all. I made no changes to the clips in that section and then I rendered the whole project and it rendered it correctly in the final video! Later on, it reverted to rendering the correct thing for this section. In the meantime I had not edited this section or anything near it at all.

It seems to be failing to refresh a cache or something. Eventually, if I change the preview range and switch between 'Instant Play' and not, I can eventually get it to render the right thing. This has happened several times today on different parts of the video. It doesn't render something out of thin air, it renders something that I had previously changed and doesn't update it's knoweldge of actually what is there right now.

I guess other people would have experienced this at some time? I searched for some sort of a button to 'clear the cache' but couldn't find one. I suppose I could go into the chosen directory and delete them all, but I fear this is a bit underhanded.

When setting up the render, do not have Smart Render enabled.

Hi Devil,

Actually, this problem is more serious than that. I may not have been clear on the problem.

I've already unset smart render. The problem is even before I render. For example, I can drag the little blue thing across my video tracks and it will show a fade where there is none!

Doing a full render using the "Create Video..." option without Smart Render works fine. No problem.

But trying to edit it is impossible because it shows what isn't there. Whatever memory or cache it's using is bogus and I can't play back what's actually there in the Preview Window no matter what I do.

So I'm saying that "Instant Play" ticked or unticked any level of accuracy using that Red-to-white bar or even dragging the blue thingy across the video all render the wrong thing. The only thing that does it correctly is "Create Video..."

Have you had this problem?

I want to delete it's knowledge about what it thinks is there. Maybe I'm best to delete the MSP8 Temp directory.

I have had similar experiences with MSP8. The preview sometimes for some reason doesn't reflect what is actually in the timeline. I have gotten around it by going to the Project/Preview Files Manger and deleting the preview files for the affected project. That usually does the trick.

Hope that helps.
