Audio gets merged with mp3 and can't be dragged or changed

Post by spurrymoses »

Sorry to bombard the newsgroup with questions. This is an editing/time clip conundrum.

I've got a screenshot of my predicament. This has happened to me several times so I'd like to seek help.

The problem as you may immediately see, is that the audio for 'Laughing with Daddy' has been magically merged into my mp3 music file. I never intended this at all, I was just dragging these various clips between Video tracks 1 and 3 and this suddenly happened.

Not only can I not drag "...laughing...avi" as a separate clip anymore, but I also can't adjust the forced volume changes. That is, hanging the mouse over the green audio clip that says "...lauging with daddy.avi" does not change the mouse into the selection hand and I am therefore completely stuck with the volumes as they are shown.

My questions is how can I stop this from happening in the first place and maybe how would you get out of it? I just want to change both volumes so that there is no fade in or fade out.

I can't say what happened but I assume you can select the video avi. I think I'd work along the Split idea to isolate it from its audio or even to delete it if all else fails. You can alwayse re-introduce it later. Better still, that's why you have automatic backup files.
