VS9 can only deal with, and produce/export, AC-3 Dolby in two channel stereo. It cannot process or produce 5.1 channel audio. (That is a job for much more expensive video editing programs, including Ulead's Media Studio Pro 8.) You don't give us the properties of your captured DVD footage, or much else for that matter, but I would say you would need to adjust the project property settings so that you are producing your final DVD with dual channel Dolby (or of course, the DVD standard LPCM, though the audio files are much larger).

sorry the video is mpeg2 file interlaced at upper field firts. the resolution is 720x576 24bits. and its in 16:9 aspect ratio. The fps is 25 and the video has a variable bitrate at max 6800kbps.
the audio is LPCM 16bit 48khz stereo as i found out now (im sure it said 5.1 ch) and it does not specify a bitrate.
all i would like to do is edit this file by clipping it on the timeline which i can do without hassle now.. as soon as i export it i lose the audio in the export file even if i change the export audio to any of the available options.
