no audio after transition

Post by EMM386 »

Hello, I'm new to Video Sudio and hopefully my problem will be easy for those of you who are expierenced. I have a 1 hour and 30 minute DV clip that I want to break into segments and trim.

I have posted some screen captures so you can see my timeline and the properties of each clip.
http://heywire.dyndns.org:8080/noaudiohelp.html

The video clips themselves play fine, but when I playback the project, it begins with the "black" screen for 1 second, then does a 1 second fade in to the first clip. during the 1 second fade in, there is audio, but instantly after the 1:00 mark the audio shuts off and the video continues to play. I tried turning off the fade in / out buttons on the video clips and it sill does the same thing... only then the picture fades in but the audio does not - after the 1 second transition, the adio mutes just as before. It also does not matter what transition effect I use. The only way I can get more of the audio before it shuts off is to increase the transition time. Has anyone had this happen? Also I tired to render the project (Share > Create Video File > NTSC DVD). It got about half way done then displayed a message "error: failed to encode the video."

Thanks for your help.

First of all, I'm not an expert. Wait a little while to see if any more knowledgable people reply before acting on my suggestions.

I am just puzzled why you are working with DV video and mpeg layer 3 audio. There just might be some difficulty there.

In my (not real extensive) experience I have always captured to DV; the video is DV (type 1 in my case) and the audio is DV Audio - PAL (I live in PAL-land).

If no-one offers any better ideas you may want to re-render each clip to produce video files with properties that match better - DV Video, and DV Audio - NTSC. I think you will find that this will work much better.
