Text is blurry on Title pages

Post by ryshkus »

When creating a title to go with any background, the wording is blurry. I have tried so many different backgrounds of images that I have, even a plain grey background. Always the text is blurry when I play the video. HELP!!!

Is there some certain way to create titles that maybe I am not using?

ryshkus,

When you say "when I play the video" are you speaking of in VS or after you've rendered the movie into a MPEG or AVI or DVD etc.?

VS8 - Blurry on play

I have the same problem. When I play the footage in VS after editing or after rendering it, the footage with text, titles or animation or any effect is blur or distorted. Can anyone help? Thanx

Either way. When I play it back in VS or if I make an MPEG.

When I look at it in VS Editor, it looks sharp. But if I play it back or save it to a file it is not a sharp text. It just doesn't look professional.

We are sailing on the same sinking ship. I have the same problem and hope someone will find solution to it.

Hi

What are your project properties :?:
(File / Project Properties)

If the frame size is small then blurring may occur.

Your frame size should be 720 x 576 for pal and 720 x 480 for ntsc.
Assuming you are trying to make a Dvd.

Hi Stacey

There are two properties to look at.

1 / The clip properties relate your captured settings.
Right click the clip in the timeline and select properties.(what are they?)

2 / Your project properties normally are the same but can be viewed File / Project Properties.
You can edit the project properties. (what are they?)

What FONT are you using?
Try and choose a font that is known as Sans Serif.
Serifs are the blocks and triangles that you find at the ends of letters.

An example of Serif font is Times New Roman, Take a look at the letter T as an example.

Now compare this to a Sans Serif font such as Arial - again look at the letter T as an example.

Also, the Antiflicker Filter can cause fine detail to be lost. If you use Zoom & Pan on a map while producing a travel video, for instance, the Antiflicker filter will likely make small map details unreadable.

Wow! You guys are great!!!

I changed the file-properties size to 720x480. It is in MPEG-2 media type but I am going to write it to a DVD - does that matter?

Also, it is still blurry. It isn't horrible, but I guess I expected it to be sharper.

I also tried switching it to Times New Roman and it looks the same.

Also, when I use animation in the wording. Such as drop, how do I get the wording to stay on the screen when it is finished "dropping"? It drops on the screen, and goes right to the next clip. I tried shortening the text compared to the image, but it still goes so fast.

ryshkus you've misread my post, try using a font that is sans serif and not serif.

Hi

Create two titles adjacent to each other.
After creating the first title drag it to the library. (this makes a thumbnail copy.)
Then drag it back to the timeline. The text will be in the exact position as the first as it’s a copy.
Now change the animation of the second clip. Fade out should do nicely.

Click the two ‘TT’ s symbol for additional options.
