avi to svcd - doesn't fit onto a 700mb cd

Post by djarcan »

Hi! I'm using ULEAD DVD Factory to create DVD, SVCD, and VCD's from avi. Trying to make an 700 mb svcd out of a 700mb avi file. Is this possible? I see that there is the option of checking the file to fit onto a 74 or 80minute cd but even after I check that off, the file still becomes way to big. Any settings I need to adjust? Thanks!

How Many Minutes?

How many minutes is your .avi video? I know for VCD (when using the standard VCD settings), you should go by the actual minutes. For instance, if you create an 80-minute VCD mpeg video, it should fit onto an 80-minute CD-R.
An 80-minute VCD video (VCD specification rates) will be around 800mb, but it will burn ok to an 80-minute CD-R (using mode-2 I believe).

I'm not sure about SVCD, but it might follow similar rules as VCD....

It's longer than 80 minutes.... I thought that selecting SVCD allows it to compress the movie size with the length staying the same. It just sucks having to use only 2.1 GB on a 4.7 DVD+R. With avi I can fit everything on a VCD. But can't play it on a DVD player...
