import of dvd vr crash disabled uvs9 sound

my system is HP Pavillion PC, AMD Athlon 64 3400 CPU, 2GB ddr 3200 SDRAM memory, 2 DVD DL writers, 2 HD of 160 (c drive) & 150 GB (d drive) respectively. d drive dedicted to video projects. I completed a dvd created as follows: MF2 to capture analog video from sony hi8 cam. usv9 to edit & finalize through share. the resulting dvd is under 3 GB. When I tried to import the dvd back to uvs9, it crashed because of incompatible sound. It rebooted automatically, but the sound disappeared. I fooled with all the gear options to no avail. Should note that previously uvs9 would not capture the sound from my analog video at all but Ulead MF2 does. Then yesterday, without doing anything, the sound suddenly appeared. So I took advantage of that to finish the video, & burn to dvd without using uvs9 (uvs9 will record to hd but will not burn to dvd, & does not detect the dvd). Current status: Ulead MF2 still able to display & capture video & sound. uvs9 will display video but no sound. Notified tech support but no resolution yet. I have reinstalled uvs9 at least once already, and I am not sure I should reinstall again.
