Hi,
as it seems that this is the only way to report problem for trial version here we go ....
I've made a very big photo (153 MB UFO format) in PI 10 with update pack 1.
Ive been able to save the file without any problems ....
But, trying to reopen the file lead me to a "Insufficent Memory" ....
Quite surprise .. I can create, save but not reopen ......
After looking for possible solution and cleaning applications running, freeing space ..... I'm now with the following configuration:
XP Pro SP2
2.5 Gb of RAM (limits of PI is 2 Gb ????)
Around 150 Gb of free disk space (but PI limit to 32)
Swapspace of 16 Go
Running in safe mode so only 74 Mb of ram used with 46 by PI
and still "Insufficient Memory" .....
I've lost 2 weeks of work except if someon has the solution which could be:
convert in another format (ie PNG)
find a way to "cut" the UFO file in 2 in order to be able to reopen them
or something else .....
Thanks in advance for reply ....
Eddy

Suggest: run PI in WinXP normal mode , not the safe mode.
And, Ulead trial programs do not have any update packs in them, they are the original released version with some limited functions and trial periods.

Hi,
before trying the safe mode I've made multiple attempt in normal mode .... including XP mode with more than 2 Gb memory allocated ... same result ...
I think that it's the product limitation trial or not, update pack or not.
All these limits are in the "File", "Preference" menu in "System" options ...
But these limits are not mentionned anywhere on Ulead site, neither in the documentation ...
I will have to rebuild my photo ..... in Photoshop ... too bad I really liked the interface and was ready to order it but there are no miracle: you have what you paid for ....
Cheers,
Eddy

I think to handle 153MB .UFO file will require more memories for it, since UFO is an compressed Ulead format, 2GB RAM might be not enough and it will requrie more hard disk space than 2GB for memory swapping.
Are you sure you can edit such a big file in Photoshop??

About Photoshop: yes ... made a test .... Photoshop use its own swap mechanism ... I even opened a ~500 Mb file coming from a scan .... no problem ... except that it's slower as it use disks but the file is open, you can work with (create layers, apply filters) and save it and re-open it without any problems.
As I said I have 16 Gb of swap spread on diffent disks but I think PI is not using this swap space as it requires the setup of temporary directories (and I have 150 Gb available for that purpose) but seems that the limit is 32 Gb for PI.
By the way, I also tested The Gimp and it's able to open very large files, bigger than what PI can but not as big as what Photoshop can ...
But what is strange is that I've been able to build this photo with PI and save it but not able to reopen ....
Usually when you do it one way (save) you can do it the other way (re-open).
Regards,
Eddy
