Problems with Audio

Post by riw »

Y'all:

I've recently installed VideoStudio 9, built a project, and am having problems burning it. Specifics:

NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
MPEG files
24 Bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Lower Field First
(DVD-NTSC), 4:3
Video data rate: 8000 kbps
Audio data rate: 224 kbps
MPEG audio layer 2, 48 KHz, Stereo

The project is made up of clips recorded from various cameras, both MPG and MOV converted to AVI, along a number of JPG still pictures of varying resolution. I've also thrown in some MP3 audio, just on top of some of the still pictures (not replacing any of the sound on the video clips.

The project looks, and runs, great, within VideoStudio, in all the prview modes, etc. I've tried burning the project in multiple ways, however, and the audio is never attached to any of the files. I've tried with the default settings for audio, and then with MPG3. I've tried exporting, and the exported clip plays right within VideoStudio, but not within any other player (jetaudio or windows medio player, either on). I've tried burning a disc directly, no audio show up no matter how I play it. I've tried burning a disc to a directory, and burning that to a disc, with the same results. I've tried making a dic image, and burning that to a disc, with the same results. All of the above has been tried with the audio setting both on mpeg and on the default.

Any ideas? I just can't get audio to burn no matter how I try to get it on the disc, even though all the formats I can try seem to work fine in VideoStudio itself.

Any help is appreciated--I really need to get this disc burnt today.

BTW, when I go to "share" and "create an audio file," the audio creates as a separate file just fine. Just when I use "create a disc," or "create a video file," it doesn't create any audio in the file, no matter how I try.

If you do a search of "MP3" you'll find some mentions of varying problems (although some have no problems what so ever with MP3s). One fix has been to convert those MP3s to WAV files.

There's only one MP3 in the entire project. The rest are all the audio attached to the AVI files. None of the audio attached to the AVI files is burned, either, although it plays in the "project preview" screen just before I burn. It doesn't seem to me to be consistent with the problems I've seen reported with MP3 files, since the audio will create, including the MP3 content, if I do a separate audio creation. Just the audio isn't included in any video file, no matter how I create it.

Have you tried inserting that audio file into your project and then burn your disc?

Yes, I just tried this, and the result was the same. The audio file plays fine by itself, and also plays fine within Studio, but jetaudio and my DVD plpayer both just see the video, no audio.

:-(

Do you mean LPCM?

Have you tried playing the disc in a stand-alone dvd player?

Yes.... I've tried both with LPCM and MPEG audio settings.

Yes--no audio....

I've just tried pulling all the AVIs, which are converted from MOVs, and replacing them with the original MOV files that the camera actually recorded. Still no luck--no audio on the burn, but audio when viewing the preview within Studio9.

So, my latest attempt is to build a new project, and just put one of the .mov files in it. I burn this, and there is still no audio component--so, it's not the AVI files, or the mp3 files, etc. It's something with the way the software is set up, since this project has all default settings, etc.

This time, I tried playing the resulting file as an MPEG in jetaudio on the local machine and real on another machine, as well as a DVD in a stand along dvd player.

So, I've no idea what happened, but I killed the project, and then started over, and it all "just works" now. *sigh*

Thanks for the help.
