failed to open mpeg encoder 2000:1:1 in msp 8

I have msp 8 and it did render one film project i had but , will not work to render another one now . all the settings are at default and i even uninstalled and re-installed and nothing changed. But, sometimes it will not give me that error message and it starts rendering then it will get into the general same area of the film then just stops for no reason.
I wonder what the problem could be ?

Leemer,

I've gotten that error as well on some projects. To get past it, when the Create Video File - Main Timeline box comes up to save your video file, click on Options and uncheck Perform Smart Render - then save your video file. This has worked everytime for me. Rendering will probably take longer but at least it gives you a video file...

Ok that seemed to help on loading the encoder I might think I know why it would stop later in the movie it was kinda hard to tell i was loading a 16:9 in a 4:3 project be nice to mix them.
