Background on picture images are now RED. WHY?

Post by wanda1525 »

I'm not sure what I did wrong, but my pictures used to print perfectly but now they all have a RED BACKGROUND and the picture is no longer clear. I don't know what I did wrong. I've changed the ink in my printer but that didn't help although the ink did need changing. That's probably how I got into trouble. I didn't realize that the ink was low and continued to tryand correct the problem. However, I really messed up. Hope you can help me out.

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ALL YOU HELP.

Try running a test print from your printer's maintenance utility to see if you have proper output from each color.

Still Red Pictures

Thanks for responding. I'm not sure if I did what you suggested correctly. But I went to the printer and selected "Preferences" and then maintenance and I saw printer alignment. It aligns correctly. So I went to the help menu in printer preferences and selected "system color". But nothing changed. What am I doing wrong. I selected a picture with the ocean and icebergs view. They printed in all RED.

What does the image look like on the screen?

The printer head may be damaged.

Click on 'Start' > printers and Faxes
Right click on your printer icon and select 'Properties' and click 'Print Testpage'

Check if the colors in the Windows logo look ok.

RED BACKGROUND

Thank you so much. It did print from properties then print test page. However, the Microsoft logo was in RED.

I now believe the problem is that I need a new printer!

Thanks again for all your help.

Here's a link to Steves-Digicams if you would like to read printer reviews before buying a new one. Of course, a Google search for reviews will give you all the info you could want.

Good luck, Wanda. :)
