Split Video options greyed out

Trying to capture from camcorder, but Split Video options are greyed out. Any way round this?

Use the scissors in the lower right of the preview window to split your video. My understanding of the function Join/Separate button is that it is only applicable to clips which have be first split with the scissors.

The Split Video option is present if AVI input is selected but not for MPG. Any reason for this? Any other reason to prefer AVI over MPG?

Hi,
The most accepted method (and reliable) is to capture in dv format
DV-Type1. Then MF4 will convert to a mpeg2 file during the dvd creation process.

Mpeg capturing direct is very cpu intensive.
