movie factoru 2se hangs up while converting

Post by lemonyx »

Hi there, new and first post.

Just starting using the WinTV 250 card and it's just what my wife's wants. :D The PC is hooked up to the satalite box using a "S" video cable and RCA both 25' long. The signal seems ok.

I'm using Movie Factory ver 2.0se if I remember right- the 2.0 ver came with the supplied cd and I updated everything after I installed it.

I was using nanocosmos to cut out the commercials then burn with Movie Factory on to VCD - but now just use Movie Factory. It would take me several tries loading the Cd into the burner (Pioneer DVD 107d) before the prog would "see" the disc (on every burn). Now, it's slowing down, after burning 10 tv programs. The counter on the right side of the bar is ticking off very slowly and this last attempted burn, it's stuck at 17% and not going any further.

I will reinstall the program and upgrade to 2SE again, but is there anything else that I can do?

Thanks

That's usually caused by a corrupt video file. Do you any of the MPEGs from previous 10 projects still on your hard drive? If some files work and others don't, you'll know something is wrong with the MPEG file.

It's not unusual for a corrupt file to play-back perfectly, but cause the Ulead programs to choke.

MPEGs are not meant to be edited, and editing them can cause corruption. The nanocosmos editor is supposed to make clean cuts & splices. I use a special-purpose MPEG editor called Womble MPEG Video Wizard ($100). Another simple "cut & splice" MPEG editor is VideoReDo ($50). (These are video editors only, You still need a DVD authoring program such as Movie Factory or DVD Workshop to make DVDs.)

The problems handling corrupt files haven't been completely elimiinated, but your version is old, and the SE versions are limited versions supplied with hardware. You might try downloading the trial version of Movie Factory 4. (Or, order the trial-disc.) Don't forget to download the user's manual. (If you decide to upgrade you can get the upgrade price.)

Doug

Thank you very much for the info- I will upgrade to something newer. That upgrade price is better than retail.
