vhs to widescreen

Post by sleeper »

I am using a sony hc-85 camcorder. The 16:9 widescreen is on. I recorded a football game in high def on tivo and put it on a vhs tape. I capture it and burn it on a dvd and it is in 4:3 ratio. The capture properties are 4:3 from the timeline. Can I put a vhs on widescreen? If so, what am I doing wrong? I did a couple of mini tape movies from the camcorder and they are in widescreen. Any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks. I checked the forum for help first but I'm new at this so I didn't find any messages to help.

Hi

You don’t say what format you are capturing to.
I assume that the video footage is true 16:9

You could try this.
If you are capturing to Dvd Mpeg 2 format you can change the ‘aspect ratio’ from the Options Cogwheel / video and audio capture properties / Advanced.

Also make sure that 16:9 is selected in the File / project properties
And that ‘perform non square pixel rendering’ is ticked / selected

You are best capturing from your mini camcorder to DV via Firewire connection.
