Title Menu with No Thumbnails

Post by neumannu47 »

Is there a way to create a title menu without thumbnails? I have a 2 hour TV show with 10 chapters. When the DVD starts, there is a single thumbnail to start the video, but there is also the arrows. Both are not needed, and the thumbnail is distracting, in this case. How can I get rid of the thumbnail? It is easy to get rid of the text title by deleting "Title".

At this point, I only have to trial version. Is this something that can be done in the paid version that the trial version will not do? I'm leaning towards buying it over DVDAuthor, but there are a couple of things that I really want the authoring program to do, as mentioned above.

How can I create a totally custom Layout template? If I could create one without the thumbnails, I could do what I want. Again, maybe the inability to create full custom Layout templates is a limitation on the trial edition. Thanks for the help.

If you want to simply play the DVD without openning menu you can un-check create menu on the Add Media screen. If not, a solution within the capabilities of DMF4 is to delete text from title and button labels and expand the single button (with unobtrusive frame selected) to occupy most of the screen (not overlapping the play button).

Movie Factory is intended as a simple entry-level authoring tool and as such does not provide menu creation facilities. I believe that DVD Workshop does. With the full version of DMF (with the extra content) you will have menus with up to 12 buttons. And with the template editing capabilities of DMF, you have a large degree of flexibility. Photo Impact can also create and edit tempates.

Further to my previous.

If you do want a chapter menu only, then on the Chapter Adding screen under Advanced Settings, uncheck Add Title Menu.

DMF provides two levels of menus

The title menu contains a thumbnail for each clip (title) in your timeline.

You can of course divided each title into chapters, in which case you can then have a chapter menu for each title.

On the Menu Editing screen (not Chapter Adding screen as I previously said) under Advanced Settings, you can select whether either or both are used.

Assuming the you have chapter menu enabled, they are accessed for editing using the drop-down box beneath the preview window.

DVD WorkShop 2 is capable of Text menu and Thumbnail menu. You can also use both types of menu for your project (say, text menu for the main and thumbnail menu for the chapters). it basically gives you the freedom to make your menus because you start from a blank template. of course there is also the Menu Wizard.
