MPEG-4 codec required???

Post by dvdlover »

I'm thinking of purchasing a Casio EX-Z750 camera. This writes video in MPEG-4 format. The Ulead web site states that this is supported but that the MPEG-4 codec is required. What does this mean? How do I get this?

I currently have VS8, does going to VS9 help this situation at all?

Thanks in advance.

dvdlover,

If you just want to watch MPEG4 movies the camera will probably come with QuickTime. Now if you want to edit the movies...the MPEG4 codec works with VS9 as a plugin, which is available for free now as a download from Ulead.

Hope this helps,
Ron

P.S. I don't remember if it can, but maybe MPEG-4 video can be brought into VS8, but you'll have to check that by Importing video and checking the recognized formats.

Here's the Link to the Plug-in. It says it's for VS9, so I don't know if it will work with VS8.

Hmmm... They say you can create MPEG-4. They don't actually say you can import or decode MPEG-4... :? Some users have been able to import MPEG-4 or DivX, and others have reported weird problems with DivX.

It looks as though it only works with VS9. Bummer. I decided not to get that camera - afterall. My daughter is just going to have to edit our home movies for the time being. Thanks again.
