newbie director!
I am a beginner in video editing and I am using videostudio 8. I am creating a movie that has a variety of video clips, audio tracks and titles that have all been positioned on the timeline in their correct positions. If I then decide to insert a new video clip near the beginning of the movie, all the title and audio track positions are not adjusted automatically and are therefore no longer in their correct positions. Is there a way of making videostudio automatically adjust these positions to keep everything in sync? Any help would be appreciated.

The bad news is that you can't do that in VS8. There are a couple of possible solutions:
Download the trial version of VS9 (or even upgrade). VS9 has the Ripple Editing feature you are looking for.
If you are fairly happy with the project as it stands, and just want to park something in front of it, then RENDER the project (Share - Create Video File). Once you have a complete video file start a new project, place your new rendered video file in the timeline, and you can easily insert a clip in front of it. You will then need to re-render to produce the definitive result.
