error @ Burning .avi on DVD

Post by adrnmh »

okay so i have 2 basic problems with Ulead DVD WorkShop 2
1.Audio Error...
I tried to burn this movie i made in some other software and exported to .avi....the Ulead Software gave me an error with 3 different avi movies at 50% right after converting video was complete...
anyone know what the problem could be?
2.The second thing...I got my hands on a classic movie from the '70 its .avi and i need it to get burned down on a DVD...it all worked well just that it took about 16 hours and it usually takes about 2~3 hours to burn a movie thata size..
Another time tried a avi movie like this it took about 8 hours and gave me an error...."operation aborted"

AAA and something else....these movies are all DivX encoded....plz help...if anyone got this thing please let me know what might be the cause to this problem and what the solution might be.

I also want to point out That i tried to convert .avi>.mpeg with Windows Movie Maker....and its till not working...says something about 1200 minutes remaining :)

You have answered your own questions :(

Various versions of DivX don't work well with other video software.

I've never used it for DivX, but you could try using SUPER (free) convert it to AVI/DV or MPEG-2. Or, you can search the Net for "DivX to MPEG" or "DivX to AVI", you'll find lots of programs to try out.

Be aware that no matter what tools you use, you will loose some video quality because you are converting from one lossy compression format to another; DivX (MPEG-4) to DVD (MPEG-2).

uhm thx very much ^^

and here i got another problem...My DVD-player (the one connected to the TV) supports DivX .avi .mpg & .mpeg ->
so basically i burned 3 .avi DivX encoded movies on a DVD ...and as i played them....two worked perfectly but one of them only shows images (with a huuuge frameskip) at 2X speed....could this be because and incompatibility bteween the version of the .avi Divx and the supported version of DivX of my dvd player ?
