Export crashes Movie Factory

Post by 1Ka »

When exporting video, by right clicking on the video file, I get the occasional crash. Windows event log shows:

Faulting application dvdvr.exe, version 3.5.0.1, faulting module uvsepa.dll, version 8.0.0.0, fault address 0x00009607.

It will do it repeatedly on some video files (DVD-RAM VR files). Others on the same disc work OK. The videos are playable on the disc, anyone else have this? I'm exporting to MPEG PAL DVD format.

That's a pretty clear indication of a corrupt VOB file. :( Sometimes a corrupt file will play-back OK, but cause Ulead to choke.

Maybe there was a broadcast glitch, that confused the recorder's MPEG-2 encoder???

Cheers for that Doug.

Shouldn't MF be able to handle this without crashing? A simple programming 'catch all' around the export code would do the trick!

Having looked at the video again, MF definitely doesn't like it as it is glitchy when playing. I put it back in my Panasonic PVR and it played ok. On a whim, I copied it to the Panasonics HDD and then back to DVD-RAM. Put the disc back in MF and it played and exported OK. Strange, perhaps the disc is dodgy or some part of the -VR format was corrupt?

Hi,
I've had some problems if I've erased titles (videos) and then started
more recordings on the same ram-disk.

Now I reformat the dvd-ram instead of deleting the recordings.
It's a standard Panasonic recorder(-vr mode).

Hope this helps,

MD
