Probably a dumb question about filters but.......
I am trying to use video filters in VS9. Per the manual, I click on a clip in the time line, the edit tab comes up, the clip appears in the main box, but I see nothing about a filters tab in the options box. In Attributes, the small blue box is grayed out. I checked Program Files and the filters are there. I have reinstalled but did not solve the problem. I have used these filters previously but can't figure out how to get them back. Have pity on a feeble minded old man and help me please

You access the filters in the library pane up the right hand side of the preview window - by default your 'Video' library is diplayed but if you click on the little downward pointing arrow to the right of the word video a drop down will appear and you can select 'Video Filter' - drag and drop the filter you require from the library onto your clip.

Ah - do you have UVS on disk or did you download ? - - if you have it on disc then a 'repair' might be an option . Go to Windows Control Panel - choose add/remove programs - select VideoStudio - click on change/remove and you should be given the 'repair ' option - run that with the programme disc in your PC.

I have it on disk, no downloads. I did the repair as you suggested. No help. Then I again went to add/remove programs and completely uninstalled, then re-installed the program. Same result.
Am I supposed to see a filters tab in the Options box somewhere as the manual says?
Thanks.
Watch out for those explosions over there.

Hi Warren,
The Video Filters options should be between the Title and Transitions on the drop down. Did you install the Content for VS9? Do you have sample video clips, transitions, in your libraries? If not then the content didn't install properly or you haven't installed them.
I don't know about the CD version, as I have the ESD, and with the ESD, there are 4 content files that have to be installed, and I think the filters are included with them.

Hi Warren,
I had exactly the same problem as yourself, I didn't have the Video Filter option in the drop down. The filters were in the Ulead Filter folder but I couldn't access them at all.
After much searching various forums I came upon a suggestion which, in my case worked perfectly.
This is what I did:
I uninstalled Ulead VS completely. I then created a new windows user, via the control panel. I then logged onto that user and installed Ulead VS. When I logged back onto my user name Ulead VS showed all the filters and I was able to use them. I then deleted the new user profile again via Control Panel, and now everything is fine.
Strange!!! but it worked for me. I don't know why?
Incidently I don't know if it works for other OS's I use Windows XP Home Service Pack 2.

I think that didn't solve my problem at all. Before installing Ulead Photo Explorer 8.5, everything worked well. After that, I'm having the same problem like you guys have now. Removing Photo Explorer didn't help at all. I'm using UVS 9.
I've tried out Altone's method, but the filters only appear in the secondary account that I've created, but not my own account.
Any ideas? I'm using Windows XP Professional SP2.

Hi renjer, sorry that it didn't work for you.
Here's another suggestion which also worked for me.
From an XP user profile that works correctly, look for the file Vfilter.rsf located in C:\Documents and Settings\USERXX\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\9.0 or the location specific to your system, and copy it to the correspondent location of your XP profile, C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR-USER-NAME\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\9.0
What this means is that you have to create a new user account , the same way as my previous method. When you have created a new account and installed Ulead, (hopefully you should now be showing the filters) then carry out my above instructions.
After you have done the above, and you have the filters available in your account, you can then delete the new user account, as before.
