Creating Video File Question

Post by sportswizdan »

Hello...

Im all done editing my VS8 project. When I go to "create video file" should the box for DVD-VR Compliant be checked or not and what is the purpose of that. Also my project is from a digital camera so what should I use... Constant Bit Rate or Variable Bit Rate, whats the difference? I captured and edited all of my project in DV-AVI and when im making my video file, I will be rendering to Mpeg (DVD-NTSC). Thanks to everyone who responds.

no need for VR if your just burning a video basically.

Constant will use the set bit rate, all the time, regardless of what is playing, could be just a blank fade to black, where as variable will drop the bit rate in that instance or when there isnt much movement, to save space , meaning you get more video time on a dvd.
Hope that made some sense to you. I use variable all the time personally.

how long does your footage go for ? that can determine what bitrate to set

This particular project is only 41 minutes. If I did have the VR checked when I was creating my video file and rendering it, will that matter at all when I finally burn my DVD?

Thanks, Dan
