Watered down version? Advanced settings
A question for the wise: I purchased a WinTv-PVR 150 to capture video and it came with this MovieFactory 3SE. Anyhow, I've installed it and read most of everthing I could about the Ulead product. I captured some old VHS video's and am now in the process of authoring them and burning them. I've read that it is important to match the project settings with that of the clips. When I have attempted to go to "change MPEG settings", then customize, and finally to the compression tab to change it, there is no button for advanced settings - to change or fully match that of the way or format I captured it in. Furthermore, I am limited in the setting for the video rate, both constant and variable. Many options are listed, but the options are faded and does not let me choose them. Am I correct to assume that the version that came with the WinTV card is a watered down version and limits me with what I can do? Please pardon my ignorance to all of this as I have just recently began to explore and learn about the wonders of DVD burning, editing, authoring, etc. Thank you, Dr. Child.

Try this tutorial written by Jerry Jones:
Jerry Jones - Ulead Tutorials - Ulead DVD MovieFactory - How to author DVDs in Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2:
http://www.jonesgroup.net/media/id174.htm
You will find the method to show the hidden Advanced Settings button in Project Settings on page 1.
This not only applies to DVD MovieFactory 2 and 3, it also applies to all Ulead video/DVD related products.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for your assistance. I am still having a problem matching my video bitrate to that of my source clip. I captured the VCR video in MPEG2 at a constant 12000kbps in WinTV2000 and the MovieFactory only lets me set the constant bitrate to 9696kbps. And when I click OK to the changed settings, I get an error message:
There is a conflict between your project audio setting and the Treat MPEG audio as non-DVD option.
Any suggestions to either problem? Thanks again.

You might not set the video bitrate at that high rate because some DVD players cannot accept DVDs higher than 8000kbps. You can try to lower the bitrates when you capture to see if it helps.
Hope this helps.

T_Sheen,
maybe your DVD players can do it, a lot of other brands and older units don't will do it.
Most commercial DVD's use only bitrates between 6000 up to 7000 kbps (including audio), to be compatible to the worldwide range of players.
If you only produce for your own players, that will be fine.
But if you visit somebody else with your DVD you can get problems

to an earlier post in this thread, i at this point have to dispute the availability on mf3 se of advanced features by inserting the line in the .ini. i did that (put it at the top in the line in the .ini that was recommended from the user guide) and saved, and rebooted my machine..i see no advance settings beyond the ones that were there right off the bat when i installed, which are very limited.

Dependent on your system and kind of installation ("all users" or "only for me" there maybe exist a number of *.ini files in the userprofiles "application data/ulead/" for dmf3 and within the program directory.
Best will be to search the full disk for that file name and make the changes for all found files. Same gamble will be with msp.ini
