here is how I got it to install and open for PI 11

Post by tshoop7 »

Before installing, I first shut down and exited my virus program,
then I check the windows Firewall Security and turned it off
Then I reinstalled the program and when it asked if I wanted to
delete the temporary files, I said no by clicking the cancel button
that way if I needed to reinstall from my hard drive, the files were
there which I had to do at first. I also followed the open with info by
context menu on this forum.
And once it opened, in Win XP SP 1&2, there is a System Restore
under Accessories\System Tools, so I 'CREATED' a new system
restore point, and named it working copy once my PhotoImpact 11
had opened up.
Remember that once installed, and the window comes up asking
to delete temp files, DON'T just click cancel, that way any file
that is called for by the program will be on your computer for
the program to open.
That's what worked for me, hope it helps everyone else too.
Oh, also check that when you put your firewall on, make sure
you have added under 'exclusions tab' the PhotoImpact 11 ledit.exe
file, I found there's a conflict with the windows firewall security
with PhotoImpact so I leave that off and use my anti-virus
program and make sure it allows it function. Hope this works
for you. I still prefer PhotoImpact 10 over this one, and I'm
thinking of asking for a refund, and go back to it instead, as
there is too many problems in PhotoImpact 11, I don't even
like the knew look, it's obvious that there is redirecting and
command parameters that have flaws in the program...especially
when all the other components will 'find' the PhotoImpact program
but the component.exe doesn't nor does the Smart Download
can't find the push url; Smart Download worked great in the
other versions. PhotoImpact has really let me down this time,
as I use it as my major graphics program over Adobe or any
other. To me Ulead was the Best, but they slipped big time on
this one. Wish they would change the look back, and cleaning
up the command parameters to work properly.
I've always
recommended PhotoImpact, but not this time to anyone.
I LOVED my PhotoImpact programs before! This last one
has really tarnished Ulead's reputation and when the word is
out, their sales will go down and they will get ALOT of
request for REFUNDS on this issue for sure and that
can effect their Merchant Account and they could be
dropped for it especially if they just 'past the buck'
and not give the 'good service' they use to. VERY DISAPPOINTING!
I find there are conflicts in the PhotoImpact programming that
CAUSES the conflicts with the Firewall and System Restore and
the time issue that causes it to terminate. That's where they
need to look is in the command structure of the Program.

What exactly is your problem with the software? You can't expect the workspace for the next versions to stay the same. It always has to improve. That is why you are provided with different workspace profiles to choose from - so that you'll be able to choose which one suits you best.

When you buy a new version, you'll always have to give yourself time to adjust to what's new with it.
