VER 9 DEFAULT ATTRIBUTES

Post by D »

Newbie to Video 9:
Attempts to use scene splitting in Edit mode keeps returning "you must set clip attributes back to default before using split by scene". I can't seem to locate anything that even gives me a hint as to what they are talking about and what I must do.

... appreciate any help...

Hi D,

I think you need to supply more info.

You can use split by scene on clips in your clip library to the right of the preview screen, or on any clip you are importing when you click on the folder icon at the top right of the whole screen. You can also use it for clips on your timeline. The last option has the advantage of not filling up your clip library with thumbnails for every scene.

It sounds like you've already run "Split by Scene", and then tried to run it again on one of the resulting scenes. You will then get a warning dialogue box which shows "You must reset the mark-in and mark-out positions back to their default positions first before you can use Split by scene".

To sort this out, you should click on the parent clip and "Split by Scene". When the "Scenes" dialogue box comes up, you should see a list of detected scenes. Clicking on the "Reset" button will join them all up and reset them.

Hope this helps!

Version 9 Scene Find

Post by D »

I am reluctant to show you just how dumb I am, but the clip(s) that I am using come out of my still camera as MPEG1 ... Studio accepts them and seems to work well with the exception of splitting the clip into scenes ... as concerns the scene splitting dialog box, I am unable to get to it ... if you could send me your number to webmaster@ocins.com and I'll call you or you can call me (Don, 407 351 8626), I'll bring things up on my screen as we talk ...

... I'm sure I've tried to do the scene finder every way I could think of, but I'm sure not getting anyplace ... everything else is working fine ...
