New version soon?

Post by terjeber »

I am a big fan of DVD Workshop, and used to be a Media Studio Pro user as well. After waiting for MSP to catch up to the features of its competition for a while I eventually grew tired and moved to Vegas. I keep using DVD WS though.

So, DVD WS needs a little bit of an update. You can't, for example, create 16:9 projects (with 16:9 menus) with it without resorting to manually editing the IFO, which is not pretty. Also, if I create a 16:9 project, I'd like to be able to adapt menus etc to that format.

So, anyone have any idea when DVD WS is to be updated? Going by the "standard" Ulead upgrade policy I can imagine this upgrade be rather expensive? Should I just forget about DVD WS and upgrade my Vegas installation to Sony DVD Architect ($299 uprade price) once and for all?

As far as I know, Ulead doesn't pre-announce new releases. I know that at-least one member here is beta-tester. But he/she is requred to sign a non-disclosure agreement.

My guess is that a new version won't be out for at least a few months. I assume if it was about ready, it would have been pushed it out in time for the Christmas buying season. (I'm a moderator, but I have ZERO inside information... I don't even know anybody who works at Ulead.)

I'm a beta tester and could not give you any news, if I had any (which I don't). However, DVDDoug isn't far from the mark with
at least a few months
