Canon Dv and Windows XP

Post by trexonbass »

I am unable to get ULead or any similiar software to recognize my Canon ZR10 Mini DV camcorder when using windows XP. I have tried updating to SP2, but no help. The camera works fine with my iMac and it also works fine on a machine with Windows 2000. Canon says the camera is OK, the problem is with the software. Can anyone help me with this problem?

Are you connecting via firewire; does the computer recognise the camera when it is plugged in? Might be worth checking the IEEE (1394) card/driver.

That may have been caused by SP2 -- Microsoft has a fix for that. You can find more information and a download link HERE.

I have a Cannon Optura 40, use XP Service Pack 2 and a Belkin Firewall Card and everything works fine with respect to capturing for me. Other than that I haven't a clue to tell you what might be the problem. I had several other issues today as I just installed today after using the trial version for a week. Other than hanging on for about 10 min the tech's that I spoke two in 2 different occasions knew exactly what my issue was and were very helpful.
