Hey everyone-
I've got VS9 and the HDV plug-in working fine with my Sony HDR-HC1. Prior to the Sony cam, I had the JVC GR-HD1 which recorded in HDV but at 720p instead of 1080i. The camcorder plays it back just fine, but I can't capture it to VS9. It give me an error about corrupt data. Is this a limitation of the plug-in?

Todd,
I did not know that the HDV plugin had a problem with capturing from the HD1. AFAIK, the HD1 transmits the same file format (.m2t) as the HC1.
However, if you can capture with something else, you can still edit in VS9 and render project video files using 6.03 Divx/He-3) codec to really nice quality 1080p @5Mbps that easily fit on an ordinary DVD and playback in*some* Divx certified DVD players. BTW, I have noticed some macro blocking compression artifacts at 3Mbps.

Thanks. I haven't been able to import it with Vegas either. Strange that it will play back fine on the camera and will show that it's outputting HDV 720p, but neither app seems to accept that. I had imported the m2t files via the KDDI app that came with the JVC. Can I import an MPEG2 transport stream into VS9?
Also, have you had success in importing from the HC1 with the HDV->DV downconversion? I can't get any app to bring in the DV stream (not even movie maker).

Todd,
I can't import .m2t files into the VS9 timeline. They have to be converted to Mpeg HDV first. VS9 captures m2t fine and converts it to mpeg HDV. Virtual Dub won't open m2t either but will work with mpeg HDV and Divx HD. I had a trial version of Womble that could convert mpeg to m2t. I did not like the editor enough to buy it.
You can create DV using VS9 from the your captured mpeg HDV. Just use SHARE/Create Video with Custom property setup.
BTW, I am still waiting to see Panasonic's HD consumer camcorder but if they don't announce soon, I will get the HD1.
