Formatting images to fit the screen
I am attempting a stop motion video using stills. I cannot for the life of me get the format right so the picture fits in frame...can anyone please help...its the same as doing a slideshow, which i cant get to work quite right either.

I would do this by cutting the video clip at the frame that you want to "freeze". Select Tools menu/"Save Current Frame as Image" - then place the image in the timeline right after the cut video clip. There really should not be an aspect ratio problem.
But if you want to force fit a still image you can set File menu/Preferences/Edit tab select Image Resampling Option = "Fit to Project Size". However, this may stretch your image. The default setting is "Keep Aspect Ratio"

No matter what I have tried i still get the same output....looks like a "zoom" in on my image.
At first I thought it was because it was too big, so I resized down to 640x480...no go.
Then I went to standard DVD size...no go...
Everything I am doing is still frame so I cannot grab single frames of video...

Bill,
Don't resize your pictures. They are already in 4:3 aspect ratio. Just drop them into position in the timeline in their full resolution. Set your Image Resampling preferences to "Keep Aspect Ratio" before you insert.
There is a Pan and Zoom control on the left of the preview screen. Maybe you have that selected. That would make it zoom in to whatever the control is set to.

Bill,
Your properties indicate that you have already pre-scaled the images to 640 x 480 pixels. Perhaps whatever software you used to scale the images is at fault...
When I insert images the properties are 2048 x 1536. They show these properties when they are in the library and when they are in the timeline. Please try inserting the images raw - right out of the camera.
