Photo Dimesion for Slideshow in VS9

Post by Vasan »

Dear Friends,

I recently made a Slideshow in VS9 with music from the family pictures. The DVD came out very well. But many picture (especially group photos) were cut either at the top or bottom or on the sides.

I use HP4070 Photosmart Scanner and Photosop for editing
In the preference my settings are:
Resampling qlty=Good
Image resampling option=Keep aspect ratio
Apply color filter=NTSC ( I live in Canada)

Please advice me on the Photo dimension at the time of loading in the timeline, so that the pictures are not cropped when viewing in the TV.

I thank all those who help newbies like me.

Hi Vasan

When you view your video on a tv set you loose some of the frame around the edge.
I think this is called over-scan (not sure) or safe area.

You can see the amount by trying to create a ‘Title‘ in video studio, the section within the rectangle you will see. Anything outside you may not. Yes its quite large. Up to 20%

Still images.

Use Photoshop to create a 15% black border around your images.
In Photoshop—create an Action—then create a Droplet from the action.
This will allow you to batch process your images.

Hope this Helps

Dear Trevor,

I did find out the way to put black border on the photograh. This does not solve the problem since the border crops the people. My problem is to find the correct dimension to fit inside the safe area. so that the pictures can be viewed fully.

I need help to solve this problem.

Hi Vasan :)

You might have a look at this website. It deals with resizing images for use in video.
