Adding audio to menu causes disc output to hang

Post by lgrenzer »

In trying to create a DVD, I find that if I add sound to the menu, the program hangs when I try to create the DVD. What is the problem??

Hi Igrenzer,

I've not had this trouble myself, either using mp3 or wav audio, using the VS9 trial.

Does the same thing happen if you write the project to either an iso file or DVD folders?

Have you tried burning a test DVD with a small sample clip instead of your main project?

You're a bit short on specifics, however. What version of VS are you using? What is your workflow? Are you using the "recommended Procedure" as outlined in the sticky at the top of the forum? How big is the audio track and what format is it? What are your system specs and operating system?

For a DVD to be DVD-VR compatible, I believe there's a 30Mb limit for the menus, it could just be that you've exceeded that, but that's a long shot.

Good luck!

...And if by chance you are in fact using .MP3 audio in the menus, you need to be aware that some MP3 codecs don't seem to work well with VS, especially LameMP3. The solution which always seems to work in these instances is to convert the MP3 to .WAV format.
