Videostudio V 7.0 se problems viewing DVD in my DVD player

Post by IRONMAN »

Hi..new user...first time question (forgive me if this has already be posted to death).

I have edited my movie successfully in VS 7.0, and burned to DVD-R.

Output Disc Format = DVD
Record format = DVD-Video (DVD-Video (fast editable) did not work with my DVD-R)\
Recording Speed = Max
Burner Advanced settings =enabled write test and enable buffer underrun protection

I can view my movie in my computer DVD drive, but when I put the same DVD in my DVD player to be viewed on my TV, the DVD player does not read the DVD. (My TV dvd player does supports DVD's in DVD-R format   ).

I only have one DVD player in the house  ...therefore I can't check the DVD I burnt in another device to determine if its the DVD player or the DVD I created.

Any ideas? :o

Go to Share step when you are editing your project, click Create Disc, then on the left bottom of the pop-up window click the “Access other options” icon, then choose “Preferences” and check if you have chosen the correct TV system.

Also, some DVD players will have trouble recognizing disks that have less than 1GB of data on them, so don't use too short a movie to test, or turn off the "Quick Eject" option. In fact, disabling the "Quick Eject" option does nothing but pad the disk with extra data to prevent this problem.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I have checked to make sure I have the correct TV selection (not the issue).

This is my first time creating a movie. Its length is just over 5min. Could the movie be too small for the DVD player?

I was confused on the quick eject option :?: Should I have quick eject enabled or disabled?

Thanks again

You have two possible issues. DVD+R and DVD-R are two different standards; many standalone DVD players will support both, but some are more picky. I found by trial and error that I had one which would support DVD+R only, so that's what I use.
THoff is correct; if you deselect fast eject the burner will "pad" the disc so a smallish amount of data will not be a problem; with some players it may otherwise be.
Suggestions: try a DVD-R disc, and leave fast eject unchecked.

The VideoHelp site has a database of DVD players and the types of media that are compatible with them -- take a look at it and see what types of blanks you should use to avoid making coasters.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I am burning only DVD-R. My DVD player does support DVD-R (so it says in the manual  ).

I'll try a little test.....
I'm going to copy a normal DVD (one I know works in my DVD player) onto one of these DVD-R cd's I have. I'll try and play that in my DVD player. If it doesn't work, then I know that the issue is my DVD player and not a setting in Video Studio.

I'll let ya know.
