I'm new to the forum, but I'm not new to MSP. I have used 6.5, 7, and now 8. I'm trying to complete my first batch capture from a tape. I have created the batch file and I'm ready to capture. The problem is I don't see where to capture using the batch file. The help menu on the subject implies there is a Capture Video option on the Batch Capture menu. If there is I sure do not see it. The older versions would also allow the user to select the batch capture from the video capture menu, but I don't see that option on 8 either.
Please tell me where I'm missing it.
Thanks

In the "Capture/Batch Capture" and "Capture/Scan DV Tape" controls the VCR metaphor is used, meaning the big red record button under the preview window starts the capture. The underlined characters are the "ALT+" keyboard shortcuts.
F5 brings up the normal capture dialog using the main windows VCR controls to position the start of the capture and its controls to set continuous/seamless capture options, filename etc.

On to the next Batch Capture Question
I realize now the big red button is to record even though the help menu references a "Capture Video" button, but when I select it with the batch file open the camera rewinds all the way, captures a little, and then the program demonstrates an error that says the task was stopped by the user. I am not doing anything to stop the task, all programs are closed, and virus protection is shut off.
The first file finally captured after multiple attempts. Thinking I didn't need the first inpoint anymore I deleted it, resaved the batch file, and reattempted to capture the batch. The program rewound the camera to the beginning again and did the same thing. It did not go to the specifed inpoint of 1:34. What part of the Creative Intelligence equation am I not getting on this one?
How do I get this MSP8 to correctly run a batch capture?

I have the same problem with batch capture and MSP8
I, too, am a long-time Ulead MSP user and I'm having trouble getting batch capture to work properly in MSP8 with my Sony HC-90. Regardless of what I have in my batch capture file, the batch capture goes back to the very first clip on the tape, even though it's no longer in the batch capture list.
I'm quite confused and frustrated. If this is a general problem with MSP8, I'm wondering why there aren't more posts. My normal way of working is to go through one portion of a tape at a time (by city, for example, during my vacation videos) and then setting multiple mark in/mark out points, then running the batch capture. Is there an easier way that others are using so that the batch capture is not an issue?

Batch capture has always been hairy with some types of camera which put blank frames between shots if the camera is switched off. It can work only when the sequence of shots is continuous. I don't know whether it is available in all cameras, but mine has a search feature which positions the tape to the end of the last shot and then moves it back about 3 or 4 frames, so that restarting it will not cause a break in the sequence. This is particularly useful if you have to remove the tape for any reason or change the battery.
