how should you create a project then get it to disk correctly
I have vs9, i create a project, eg say its an 1hr long? then the only way i can get it to a disk is this way?
1. create video file, on a project that big takes my pc 4 hours, creates a mpeg file of @2.3 gb
2 now this is where i think i go wrong, then i say create disk
i go through and create menu's etc... i create a video image to disk etc.. tell it how many copies i want etc..and it goes off and starts rendering, for the above file it takes 7 hours, to get the 1st disk off.
NOW if i try to just create disk, with the video file it fails with it cannot support this file type , something like that. hence me having to create the video file (step 1)
also , why when i look at my project it looks fine, then when burnt to disk ,and played on dvd player, its like i need a wide screen tv, the sides are always cut off, where do i change that setting? or is this my dvd player (same on everyones but)
thanks in advance
Jenni

Apart from fuly endorsing sjj1805's requests, I would like to know the specific properties of the mpeg file you produced with 'Create video file', and what the project properties were. Also, where and how you captured the video in the project and its format.
Next, it seems as though something has gone wrong with your commands at the 'create disk' stage -- and it seems to me that in the first place, the mpeg file you produced above is not fully DVD-compliant for the simple fact that the program is rendering it. If the mpeg file was DVD-compliant, the burning module should not re-render, as that has already occurred in the 'Create video file' stage. (BTW, since we don't know your computer specifications, I would say that 4 hours to render a 1 hour video is not unusual.)
So that's problem number 1: the mpeg is probably not DVD-compliant.
Problem number 2 seems to be that you have asked the program to do what exactly??? You say 'i create a video image to disk etc.. tell it how many copies i want etc'. But it is your use of "etc" which may cover the mystery. Do you ask the program to burn an actual disc, or only a disc image i.e. .ISO file, or both? Or a DVD Folder i.e. Video_TS, or again, both? Whichever, once you get the mpeg properties sorted out, I would not be ambitious. If you intend to burn several copies of your DVD, then simply ask the program to prepare an .ISO file (after you have made your menus, etc.) Then use that ISO file to burn your discs, either using the 'VCD DVD Disc Image Burner' program what came with VS9 or else a third part program like Nero.
