DVD import feature in VS9

Post by superpina »

Hi guys,

I would like to import a DVD and export the file as a WMV file (without creating a MPEG file). The chapter are imported but when I choose them the hourglass keeps forever.

Did somebody had this problem yet?

Regards,
superpina.

You're not the first person to have this problem. I don't know if anyone's found a solution yet, and I suspect that there is more than one cause / solution. You might poke around the forum a bit to see what you can find... I don't know what search-terms to suggest. :?

You might try searching the internet for a "DVD to WMV" conversion program. I recently had a problem DVD, and after downloading several trial programs, I had some success with a free program called SUPER. I was converting to MPEG-2, and SUPER did create an MPEG-2 file that I could open with the Ulead products... But, I think SUPER's WMV encoder is still "experimental".

Try clicking on the imported MPEG files in Windows Explorer, with Videostudio shut down, and see if you get a lengthy delay and/or hourglass.

You may have a problem with your codecs. Did you ever install any codec packs?

I have:

VS9
Windvd 6

My machine is a Semprom 2.8 with 1GRAM and lots of disk space.

When I try DVD import, the "hourglass" stays there for quite a while as it reads the DVD. It's also quicker reading individual chapters.

It's noticeably quicker if the DVD folders are on my hard drive, so the DVD writer obviously has some influence.

Having said that, I'm using the VS9 trial.
