I dont know what to do: I am trying to burn from dv tape to dvd and in some videos the images in movement look like shaking or trembling, as if I had used incorrect field order. I’ve done all things in this sequence:
Capture from miniDV to HD in DV avi type 2 using scenalyzer, where I obtain this kind of AVI video: MainConcept DV Codec 2.4.4 Type 2
Edition and titles using UVS8 and saving to mpeg like this:
NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
MPEG file
24 Bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Lower Field First
(DVD-NTSC), 4:3
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 6000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 256 kbps
MPEG audio layer 2, 48 KHz, Stereo
Then I author DVD using DVD Workshop 2 with the same project properties, asking not to convert compliant videos.
The problem is that when I watch on TV some videos seems OK and others seems like the field order was upper first, although all of then are lower first. I was wondering if this could be related to the location of frames where I split video using Video Studio or to select or not anti-flicker in VS8 preferences or if this is related to using or not titles (although other videos with titles seems ok)
What can be wrong ?

Jairo,
Your procedure and properties look OK. Does the image shake when you play the video file in Windows Media Player on the PC?
Many on this forum prefer to capture to DV Type1 for various reasons (I don't think shaky image is one of them). You might try a short Type 1 capture to see if that clears up the problem.

Hi
Since my last post I have tested many different things. I created two avi files from DV tape with just 7 seconds each, one Type 1 and the other Type 2 encoding to MPEG VBR 6000 lower first with UVS8 in different manners. This is my conclusion, although I dont know why it happens: When I add title in UVS8 the result after using DVD Workshop to author and burn is too bad on TV, and when I dont add titles but just encode from AVI to MPEG the result is ok, no matter if I use Type 1 or Type 2 dv-avi file and there´s also no difference if I use or not anti-flicker or non-square pixel rendering. So, it seems that there´s something wrong with titles in UVS8.

Jairo,
Why are you involving DVD Workshop in this process? You were on the right track originally: If you can capture to Mpeg2 successfully, then edit mpeg2 in Video Studio, Create an mpeg2 Video file in Video Studio (with the same properties as your video clips), then, with a completely empty timeline, Burn the DVD with Video Studio after setting the Burn properties to match your video file properties.

Hello,I had this same problem before.I was converting a videotape to dvd.The end result was the same time after time, especially when the camera moves around it really trembles. My problem lied in the fact I tried to capture at higher quality instead of good quality which is fine. Then I started to mess around with the mpeg properties which I let it set it self automatically now I don't screw with it.I thought it was the field order.

Hi,
I have used DVD Workshop, which is a Ulead product and should be compatible. DVDWS has much more resources to create menus, insert subtitles, motion menus, and other things. I have also tried DVD Movie Factory 3 and had the same problem. That´s why I think the problem is related to UVS. The project I was trying to finish should be ready this saturday, so I finished with no tiles and it´s ok.
I´ll try a small test finishing and burning in UVS and I´ll post the results later.
