Sub-title Disable Function.

Post by uforobograndizer »

Hello everyone,

Two questions regarding sub-titles.

1. Is there an option to have a link to sub-titles off on the sub-title menu? I am able to link specific a text or button to a sub-title track, but I couldn't seem to find an option to disable sub-titles, the same as what we would have on the DVD remote control when switching between sub-title tracks.

2. When there is a sub-title track, how can one make sure that the default is sub-titles off when turning on the DVD in the DVD player? It seems like the default sets it as sub-title on.

Thanks

there have been several discussions about this in the forum. please use the search function.

to answer your first question: NO. it is not possible to disable the subtitle via the menu. you need to use a utility to edit the dvd structure (i remember someone discussed this).

edit: you can always put a dummy track in the subtitle and refer to it as "Subtitle Off" in the menu. its the only quick workaround but the DVD player will display it as having a subtitle. only there is no text being displayed.

Thanks for responding. I did serach the forum and couldn't seem to find it. In any case, I provided the response which I got from Ulead today below.

I don't think it is professional to have a dummy track because when pressing the sub-title button on the remote control, one will have to scroll between three tracks, the English, dummy, and sub-title off button. What's your opinion?

1. The subtitle will only show if you have selected/activate the menu link that has an assigned subtitle track for the video. Check the configuration of your DVD player for this setting.

2. You can create a subtitle menu where you assign a subtitle track to a button that is linked to a particular video. However, DVD WorkShop 2 currently does not have a feature to turn off the subtitle via the menu. You can assign a dummy track for it that contains no subtitle text and make a button for it to turn off the subtitle.

THank you

I've used the dummy track without problem: I always make it the first one so that the first real one is actually track 2. I control it via a text only menu of the following general style

Sub-titles

Sub-titles off
Français
Deutsch
Ελληνικά

No one has ever complained about this.
