Hi,
I wanted to do something simple like drag my edited .avi files to a RAM disk in my LG Super-Multi burner (Which can burn anything) for temporary storage, but got a "This drive is Read Only" message.
Can anyone please tell me what causes this and what can I do about it? I just want to use the RAM disk as a huge floppy.
I'm using VS9 on a Pentium 4, 1.6 GHz laptop with XPPro (Update II) installed.
Why would anyone want a drive that is read only? Is there a general way to make drives not "Read Only"?
Thanks,
Don
How can I change a drive from "Read Only"?

It's a DVD-RAM drive, not a normal RAM drive that has blazing speed.
In order to allow you to write files to a DVD-RAM disk, you need to have a formatted DVD-RAM disk (not DVD-RW or DVD+RW) in the drive, and you also need to have appropriate software (a packet writer) installed. The required software usually comes with the system.
If you don't have a packet writer installed, then the drive will be seen as a DVD-ROM drive, so it will be read-only.
