Will Old Ver. 6 SE project files run/work if upgrade to 9?

Post by imjay »

I've been using VS 6 SE for about 3 years and done amazing (to me) things with it but I'm working on editing six DV cameras of 19hrs of video of a musical concert and 1 hr of edited video is taking about 3 hrs to process/render and I'm finding a bit of viewing instability in my rendered and burned DVDs - spots of visible dropout to momentary program interruption.

I want to upgrade to version 9 and also upgrade my PC for faster rendering and need to know:

Will my V-6 Project Files load and work okay in V-9 so I can continue open project and revisit old ones?

Is the rendering engine reliable even if the primary video track in the workspace is loaded with overlay events and soundtrack added?

Finally, is the work space user interface in Version 9 similar to earlier version?

New here - thanks all of suggestion/information.

probably not

I've gone from 7 to 8 and 9 and none of the projects would work from the lower rev's to the higher. I didn't however try to re-use the video files. I'm guessing these would be ok but maybe someone more experienced can add to this.
