Enhanced integration?

Post by Sillyname »

Taken from Mediastudio 8's product overview page on www.ulead.com:

Enhanced integration lets you import Ulead VideoStudio projects for a smooth upgrade path, also sharing many workflow elements and dialog layouts. Also import PhotoImpact .ufo files with alpha channel for lower-third graphics and overlays

How come it has been made compatible with Videostudio project files but not Mediastudio 7 project files?

Does the EULA let you have version 7 and version 8 on one computer, if version 8 is an upgrade from version 7?

Its not a "Part Exchange" so yes you can have both. If you took MSP7 off you would lose "Video Paint" and CGI then end up paying another fee for
Video Graphics Lab should you latr wish to use these functions.

It all depends what you mean by 'compatible'. There is nothing whatsoever to stop you importing a MSP7 dvp file or a VS file. But you will get problems with either if it contains bits derived from features that are not present in MSP8. For example, the titler in MSP7 is totally different to that in MSP8 and it is not possible to effectively translate from one to the other. OTOH, if the MSP7 file contains just the clips and their layout with simple transitions, then it is perfectly compatible with MSP8. Notwithstanding - and this golden rule applies to all video software - if you start editing with one version, it is always better to finish the project with the same version.
