Audio Conversion of a 5.1 audio track

Post by sgronow »

I have a 5.1 mpg file (approx 30 mins long)

When using VS9 to create a DVD it takes the 5.1 audio track and creates a 2nd 2 Channel Audio track. In the process it takes like 1 hour to create the 2nd/extra 2 channel audio track.

Is there anyway of stopping the creation of the 2nd 2 Channel Audio track?

Thanks

Hi

Rendering the audio part of the video file usually takes no time at all.

I would suspect your video property settings.

What are your video clip settings and how are you converting the video?

:( Probably not.

As I understand it, the DVD standard does not support 5.1 MPEG. So, if your DVD contains a 5.1 MPEG, it must also contain at least one standard-compliant track (AC3, stereo MPEG, or stereo LPCM).

...And in any case, VS 9 cannot itself produce 5.1 Dolby audio.

A note of clarifications as well on DVDDoug's comment on standards -- since we don't know whether sgronow is in NTSC or PAL land, it is LPCM or AC-3 in NTSC land and LPCM or MPEG (and optionally AC-3) in PAL land.

Hi Guys,

My Disc Template Settings are

24 Bits, 720 x 576 25FPS
Lower Field First
DVD - Pal 16:9 (or 4:3)
Video Data Rate - Variable Max 7000 KBPS
Audio Data Rate 256 (have also tried 384)
Dolby Digital Audio 48MHZ 2/0 (l,r) no option for 3/2

Thanks

HI

Your settings look ok with the exception of the ‘or 4:3 Are you not sure.

If you are using the properties provided and the only change is the audio then rendering should be very quick.
But you have to use the same settings, changing the bit rate will greatly increase the render times.

Try This
Make your own template.

Go to Tools / Make Movie Manager

Add

Template name (give it a name)
Browse the ‘File path’ box to locate your video file on your hard drive.
Click ok

A template has been created to match your video clip properties.
Select ‘Edit’

Compression tab.

Change the audio format to Digital Dolby
Audio bit rate 256

Click OK
Click Close

You now have a template using your video properties but with DD audio.

When you go to Share Create Video File the template will be in the list above the ‘Custom’ template.

Create a new file using the template.

Hope this Helps
