Hello everyone! I just downloaded the demo fo DVDWORKSHOP 2 and a question.
I'm creating a dvd in which 3 short movies are going to be on the dvd. I wanted to create a menu such that it would be the following:
When you start the dvd the main menu would show 3 frames. Each frame would contain a short clip for the 3 different movies. If you select any of the frames instead of going to the corresponding movie it would go to the "main menu" of that movie ( sub-menu of the original menu wih the 3 frames). Now the "main menu" for each movies would have different features about that movie ( interview with cast, bloopers, extra scenes, etc).
My question is this:
In the original main menu where I have the 3 frames for each movie I have 3 small clips for each corresponding movie in the 3 frames. However, whatever button I click on to try and go to the main menu of that movie it just goes and plays the actual movie, totally disregarding the main menu for the movie. Yet,in the original main menu if I use an image ( non video) file for the 3 frames and i click on any frame, it goes to the corresponding main menu of that movie. But if I use video it doesn't, and when I click on the frame instead of going to the menu it goes directly to the movie. Does anyone know why this happens?
Cheers,

I'm not quite clear what you are doing. Is each "movie" a separate title or are they chapters of one long single title?
Either way, the answer to your question is by dragging items to and from your playlist in the Menu function. Whatever, it is possible to do what you want.

Yep each movie is a seperate title.
Let me see if I can make this easier to understand since it is quite hard to. Alright, lets just say for example I wanted to burn three full movies onto one dvd. The three movies are: Home Alone 1, Home Alone 2, and Home Alone 3.
When you load the dvd the main menu you appears, and 3 square buttons appear side by side. One button is for Home Alone 1, the second is for Home Alone 2, and the third is for Home Alone 3.
The first button is for the movie Home Alone 1. Underneath the first button I have the text that says " Home Alone 1" and instead of having the button being blank with the text underneath, I "filled" the button to show a 20 second clip of Home Alone 1.
What I want to accomplish is when someone clicks on the button for Home Alone 1 ( or any of the other Home Alone buttons for that matter) instead of playing the movie it would go to another menu. So if someone clicks on the button for Home Alone 1 it would go to another menu where you would have options for the movie Home Alone 1 ( e.g. play movie, extra scenes from Home Alone 1, Bloppers, etc).
However I run into a problem. At the main menu when I have buttons for each movie; if I fill the button with a actual video clip of the movie, when you select the button it plays the entire movie instead of going to the "main menu" for that movie. However, when I "fill" the button with an image; when you select the movie the image zooms in for about 3 seconds or so and then goes to the main menu.
Is there a reason why this is occuring? As well, is it possible to change the transition effect when going from one menu to the next?
Thanks and I hope this clairifies my problem bette.r

This should work for you.
First create your 4 menus, main menu, sub 1, sub 2 and sub 3, main with 3 buttons, other swith as many as you need.
Ensure that your movies are loaded in the production library(bottom left).
On the menu step, double click main menu to select and display it. Drag sub menu 1 from the bottom block, (not sure of the terminology) the one below the main window, and drop it on button 1, alternatively work with the 'playlist' on the left, repeat for button 2 & 3.
Still on the main menu, now drag movie 1 from production library and drop on button 1, and repeat for movies 2 & 3 on their respective buttons.
Now double click on sub menu 1, and drag & drop movie 1 onto button 1 (from timeline down below or use playlist function), bloopers onto blooper button, etc, and repeat for sub menu 2 & 3.
Hopefully this is what you are looking for.
With regard to transitions between menus, I would try this.
I have both media studio and photo impact so it would work for me, in photo impact open the .ufo files for all menus and create picture files identical to the all 4 menus, then in media studio, create a short clip transitioning from one menu to another, ie from main to sub 1, main to sub 2, sub 2 to main, etc. Then in the playlist for button 1 on the main menu, instead of having just sub menu 1, you have transition 1, followed by sub menu 1, and similar for other buttons. This I have not tried, but see no reason why it should not work.
Hope you come right.
Regards,
Greg
