No DVD option for burning TV Slideshow
When I select 'Burn a TV Slideshow', the only output option I am offered
is VCD. The Photo Explorer User Guide for 8.5 states, on page 56:
"To burn a slideshow disc of VCD, SVCD or DVD format (depending on the output format that is available in your Ulead Photo Explorer program
version), click Burn TV Slideshow in the storyboard toolbar."
Q: Why do I not get DVD in the Output Format drop-down list?
Notes
1. When I initailly posed this problem I was told by Ulead Support that it was because I then had no DVD burner. I purchased an NEC ND-3500A specifically for this application.
2. I have applied the following patches, but the issue remains:
a) 3617246-CD/DVD Burning Engine upgrade to v.3.6.17.246.
b) Ulead_16xburn_patch-16X DVD Burning Pack.
Has anyone else faced this issue?
Please advise.

You should have VCD, SVCD & DVD in the drop down box, regardless of what drives you've got installed.
If you don't have a DVD drive installed then you will get an error in the next dialog box.
I'm assuming this is the real program & not a trial version?
I'd say uninstall the program, then delete the program files/ulead folder just to make sure, then re-install it

My version came with the full retail version of PhotoImpact 10. Help>About reports it simply as Photo Explorer 8.5, together with a serial number which I have been able to register. It has been installed since Oct 2004. I have no reason to assume that it is the trial version.

You should have something like this in the registry...
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ulead Systems\Ulead Photo Explorer\8.5\Installer]
"Serial Number"="your serial number"
"snLanguage"="21"
"ProjectNumber"="13000365.910000000"
"TVSystem"=dword:00000002
"TVcountry"="United Kingdom"
"Media"=dword:00000003
"Version"="3"
It seems to be the "media...." entry thats important, it has to be set for "3"

Fantastic!
It was indeed the Media setting that was causing my problem. My registry entry was ste to a value of 1. I changed it to 3, and have just successfully produced my first slideshow on DVD.
Thank you very much indeed for your help.
(You may like to know that I have been talking to Ulead Support about this since last October. After 24 emails and several phone calls I gave up on them!!)
Cheers.
