No Audio while scrubbing in Source Window

Post by JonNYm »

Hi All,

I have a problem with Source window in MSP8. There is audio while playing the clip, but when scrubbing or going frame by frame, it's mute.
It's annoying when trying to find the cut point by audio cue (for cutting/syncing to music).
I have the Creative Audigy2 ZS Platinum Pro.
thanx in advance for any advice.

Cheers

Just to get a complete picture of what's going on; what format is the audio recorded to (WAV, MP3, MPEG, AC3 etc.) and what are the project settings (NTSC/PAL DV, MPEG, DivX etc.) ?

Hi Terry,
thanx for your reply.
The audio is part of a DV video clip. DV Type 1 PAL (720x576)
DV Audio - PAL 44,100 kHz, 16bit Stereo.
Project settings are:
PAL Stereo, 25fps, 720x576, DV Type 1, DV Audio PAL 44,100 kHZ 16bit Stereo.

Hope that helps.

Cheers

Try setting a 48khz audio sampling rate in the project settings and make sure none of your audio devices "normal" mixer channels are muted (other than modem, phone etc).

Also; if you have more than one audio device in your system (ex: embedded audio and an audio card) make sure the Creative is selected as the default device in the Control Panel/Sound and Audio Devices control.

No joy I'm afraid.
I'm gonna rip out the Creative card and test using the onboard chip.
I'll let you know how that goes.

thanx again

Well...if it's any consolation I gave up on Creative cards long ago, even before the class-action lawsuit over the SB Live and Audigy not having true 24 bit.

I'm now using Turtle Beach Santa Cruz (aka: VideoLogic Sonic Fury, unfortunately out of production) and the new M-Audio's in my video workstations and an Echo GINA 24 in the DAW (digital audio workstation).

Creative wasn't my first choice either but I needed something better than the on-board chip, which by the way solved the problem with audio in the source window. ?!!!

A bit odd considering scrubbing using the preview window works fine.

So it looks like MSP8 has a problem with the AudigyZS Platinum Pro (or vice-versa)

Time to put the PC back together.
