Installation Problem
I have downloaded the trial version as well as the other programs they recommend to instal before installing the trial version. Installed in a different directory to other ulead products I have as per the suggested directions. Everything goes well until I try and open the program after installation. It keeps on telling me it has encountered a serious error. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Can someone please help me?

Codec TrialActivation has a serious error
I have downloaded the trial version, and when I have installed and try and run the program it gives me an error message: Codec TrialActivation has a serious error.
My system info is:
Pentium® 4 CPU 2.40GHz
2.41 GHz
512 MB of RAM
I tried downloading again from site 2 and re-installing and still get the same error message.
My event log shows nothing other than installer started and that's it. On application details it says that all were configured successfully.
I also downloaded the patch and installed, and that doesn't work either.
I tried installing the program on my laptop (which has a dvd player) and it works fine. Could the problem stem from the fact that my PC doesn't have a dvd player and if so, how can I get around this issue???
I went through the hardware devices on both pc's and the only difference I can pick up at first glance, is that the graphics driver on the pc it won't work on, is a NVIDIA Geforce 4 MX440.
Could this maybe be the problem? And is there a way I can get around it?
Please please please can someone help me???

If you mean a DVD drive, I wouldn't have thought that would affect things. I had VS7 SE Basic running on an old laptop without a DVD drive once.Canaan wrote:UPDATE:

There can sometimes be conflicts with other programs, but those normally crop up when you're trying to burn to DVD - which you are obviously not doing!
You mention the "other programs" - which primarily would be the necessary DirectX stuff for one. You might also check to make sure that you have the latest drivers for your pc. That's pretty easy if it's a "tier 1" type like an HP, Gateway, Dell and so on, since they usually give you alerts or you can search their support pages for your particular model. There are fairly frequent updates for things like onboard sound drivers, video, BIOS updates and so on. It's a long shot, but you never know.
When I've installed various Ulead trials, I've just gone for the default install directory as prompted by the program, and never had problems. I would say, however, that I've never installed one version "over" another - when going from the VS7 trial to my VS 8 install, I completely removed the VS7 first by reloading a previous image of the operating system and programs partition, and likewise removed VS8 before trying the VS9 trial. Windows' own "system restore" may allow you to do this, although it's a resource hog, so I don't use it myself.
You might consider buying the current Ulead trial CD - it's only a few bucks, and you can be sure that the program install files won't be corrupted - plus you get to try out all their consumer stuff. But again, I think this may be another long shot.
Perhaps you could list the software on your pc, and the available drive space and so on.
Good luck!
