Full or Upgrade Video Studio 8

Post by Merlin »

Is there anything not included in the upgrade that one would get in the full version?

No, the upgrade is the full version. It loads totally as an integrated package and does not 'borrow' any parts from any previous version of Video Studio you might have. In fact, you can leave VS 7 on your system and VS 8 will load and operate quite separately. In the installation process, the VS 8 upgrade version merely checks to see that indeed you do have a previous version. But you don't need to have it installed on your computer -- pointing the VS 8 installation set-up to an earlier version disc in one of your CD-ROM drives is enough.

Thanks Ken, I bought and downloaded the upgrade and as a bonus it came with Cool 3D SE. Good deal for $50. :D :D

Great! As you probably know, you can use Cool 3D to make fancy animated titles, and it works too... In fact, there was a bit of a debate about what was crippled about the program to warrant it being called SE. I think it might have lacked a few backgrounds, but otherwise seemed to work just fine for me. So well that I upgraded to Cool 3D Production Studio. Now don't get me wrong, this is a great product too, but I must say its rendering time is horrendously long when compared to the 'simple pleasures' of the old SE version!! Good luck.

my only concern with the upgrade version (i have the CD Rom Version) is that make sure you have the newest patch otherwise it wont load. also make sure yu have the DST patch otherwise it will stop working the next time the clocks change for summer time settings. Also if you dont load it you will not be able to remove the product unless you feel happy to go into the registry and remove it!

I for one am not totally satisfied with this version of Videostudio. It has its admirers who sing it praises, but it also has its critics whom the admirers hate to say anything against it!
