Hello,
I'm been trying to get VS8 working for sometime now, so any help would really be appreciated.
My problem is capture. When I go to capture, the camera plays, and then pauses. After a few soconds, garbled video comes on the screen. (The camcorder is still paused). About 20 seconds later, it says that it does not detect the camcorder.
It actually worked once for about 3 minutes, but not since then.
I've got:
-Panasonic PV-DV camcorder (connected via firewire)
-128 MB RAM
-Windows ME
Please help!
Thanks,
Rory

Your system doesn't meet the System Requirements for UVS8 -- that may well have something to do with the problem. Shut down any and all other programs that are running in the background to free up as much RAM as you can (except for your firewall if you aren't behind a router with a built-in firewall), and see if that helps.

I am using a PV-DV600 with firewire with no problems.
My system however is XP. I believe your problem is in using the ME version, as the other gentleman indicated.

ME is not the problem, though I would certainly not recommend using it to anyone. The problem is that he only has 128MB of RAM total, a good chunk of which will be chewed up by Windows and a bunch of background processes. 512MB of RAM is a good starting point for just about anything worth doing these days.
