Need a tool to save a split by scene clip in multiple files

Post by SigmaObjects »

Hi,

I'm looking for a tool that will automatically detect scenes and offers the possibility to save each scene into a separate clip.

I don't think VideoStudio can save scenes to multiple files easily but is there something available that is doing that?

Regards,

To the contrary. VideoStudio has had split by scene for some time now.

To perform scene detection capture of DV content just check the "Split by Scene" box in the capture options. Page 55 of the VS9 manual.

If you have content that has aleady been captured in one long file you can split it in the editor by selecting Split by Scene then opting for either the DV time scan or MPEG scene content option. Page 69 of the VS9 manual.

BUT the automatic splitting is very sub-optimum

when I try to use the auto scene splitting, it makes too too many tiny tiny scenes. How can I control the parameters that drive the process? should be some way to dial in for fewer or more scenes?

In the split by scene dialog there is an Options button. Clicking this gives you a dialog that adjusts this modes sensitivity. You can also Join framents to make larger scenes.

okay, found the sensitivity slider.

But it doesnt finish my problem ...

I want to to have the multiple scenes show up as scenes/chapters on the finished DVD. If I make the scenes here in the edit step, then follow best practices and create an MPEG file as an intermediary step; then when I go to burn the MPEG file into a DVD the chapter information is lost and I have to recreate it but in the burn dvd wizard. so is there a control there too?
