import time/date stamp - how?

Post by expedio2005 »

I need to use some footage in court and I need to show on a dvd the time/date stamp either on the footage itself or at the beginning... how?

Hi expedio205,

I don't think Video studio can add that to the footage, although it would be simple enough to add a title. Even if VS could do it automatically, however, that would surely represent tampering with the video and be open to lots of challenges.

You can certainly see the original DV timecode in the preview window, and you can also enable the timecode to be displayed when viewing a DV AVI clip. ("preferences >> "Display DV Timecode in Preview Window") With that setting enabled, you also get to see the timecode when mousing over the clip in the library. Neither of those really helps much, except that it makes it easier for you to figure out the time/date required for any added title.

Maybe you need to play the clip in the camcorder in court. Perhaps alongside that, you might be able to also use a version with the date/time added.
