Templates & Slide files missing

I notice this is a common problem - seems the guys on the help desk don't know about it. Following the advice on this thread - I have downloaded 'hash software' but I am not sure what I do next to ensure I get the correct download for the themes etc. Sorry.... can any smart cookie give me some step by steps on how to get these dam'd templates.
