I have VideoStudio 8. I've used it for almost 2 years now and I love it...Mostly. (Except for the annoying burn issues which require tribal knowledge and this forum to work around). Anyway, I don't use the auto music portion of the program and I notice that the Smartsound files are taking up 3GB of disk space. Can I remove that plugin without messing up my VS8 program?

Yes you can remove the plugin and folders if you wish. the 3GB file size displayed is a bug the folder is really around 342MB
